Position Summary

TIGON Golf Carts is seeking a motivated Automotive Technology Student Intern who wants practical experience working with electric and gas-powered golf carts, low-speed vehicles, and utility vehicles.

This paid internship is designed for students attending an automotive technology, powersports, small-engine repair, electrical, or related technical program. You will work alongside experienced technicians while developing real-world skills in vehicle inspections, diagnostics, maintenance, repairs, accessory installation, and final vehicle preparation.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities for AUTOMOTIVE TECHNOLOGY STUDENT INTERN

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist technicians with diagnosing mechanical and electrical problems
  • Perform vehicle inspections under the supervision of an experienced technician
  • Complete approved maintenance and repair assignments
  • Inspect and service brakes, steering, suspension, tires, and wheels
  • Assist with battery testing, charging, replacement, and maintenance
  • Learn to diagnose electric motors, controllers, chargers, solenoids, wiring, and related components
  • Assist with gas engine maintenance and small-engine repairs
  • Install approved golf cart parts and accessories, including:
    • Windshields
    • Roofs
    • Seats and rear seat kits
    • Mirrors
    • Light kits
    • Brush guards
    • Wheels and tires
    • Lift kits
    • Storage accessories
  • Perform pre-delivery inspections
  • Prepare vehicles for customer pickup and delivery
  • Document completed work and inspection results
  • Use computers and mobile devices to access service and vehicle information
  • Maintain tools, equipment, parts, and assigned work areas
  • Assist with loading, unloading, and moving vehicles when legally permitted
  • Follow all workplace safety procedures
  • Keep the service and warehouse areas clean and organized
  • Ensure every completed vehicle meets TIGON quality and safety standards

  • Currently enrolled in an automotive technology, powersports, small-engine, electrical, diesel, or related technical program
  • Basic mechanical aptitude
  • Familiarity with hand tools and power tools
  • Interest in electric vehicles, automotive repair, golf carts, or powersports equipment
  • Basic computer and mobile phone skills
  • Ability to follow instructions and accept constructive feedback
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Dependable attendance and punctuality
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to perform the physical duties legally permitted for the applicant’s age
  • Valid driver’s license preferred
  • Must provide and maintain the basic hand tools required for the position
  • Professional automotive experience is not required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous automotive, golf cart, motorcycle, bicycle, powersports, or equipment repair experience
  • Basic knowledge of electrical testing and diagnostic procedures
  • Experience using a multimeter, battery tester, diagnostic scanner, or similar equipment
  • Understanding of basic vehicle safety and maintenance procedures
  • School recommendation or eligibility for internship credit
