Position Summary

TIGON Golf Carts is seeking a motivated Automotive Technology Student Intern for a paid, after-school internship. This opportunity is designed for high school and technical school students interested in automotive repair, electric vehicles, powersports, small engines, or mechanical work.

The selected intern will work alongside experienced technicians while learning practical skills in vehicle inspections, maintenance, repairs, accessory installation, electrical systems, and golf cart preparation.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist technicians with approved maintenance and repair assignments
• Perform vehicle inspections under direct supervision
• Help diagnose basic mechanical and electrical problems
• Inspect and service brakes, steering, suspension, wheels, and tires
• Assist with battery testing, charging, replacement, and maintenance
• Learn about electric motors, controllers, chargers, solenoids, wiring, and related components
• Assist with approved gas engine and small-engine maintenance
• Install approved golf cart parts and accessories, including:
  • Windshields
  • Roofs
  • Seats and rear seat kits
  • Mirrors
  • Light kits
  • Brush guards
  • Wheels and tires
  • Storage accessories
• Assist with pre-delivery vehicle inspections
• Clean and prepare golf carts for customer pickup or delivery
• Use computers and mobile devices to access service information
• Document completed work and inspection results
• Organize tools, equipment, parts, and accessories
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area
• Follow all TIGON Golf Carts safety and quality procedures
• Ensure completed work meets TIGON quality standards

Qualifications and Requirements

• Currently attending high school, technical school, or an approved automotive training program
• Interest in automotive technology, electric vehicles, golf carts, powersports, or small engines
• Basic mechanical aptitude
• Familiarity with basic hand tools
• Basic computer and mobile phone skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Dependable attendance and punctuality
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn
• Ability to follow instructions and accept constructive feedback
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to perform physical duties legally permitted for the applicant’s age
• Must provide and maintain the required basic hand tools
• Professional automotive experience is not required

Applicants Under 18

Applicants under 18 must satisfy all applicable state, federal, school district, and youth employment requirements before beginning work.

A work permit application, also known as working papers, may be required. The application may need to be signed by a parent or legal guardian before an authorized school district issuing officer can grant the official work permit. Younger students may also need a written statement describing their proposed duties and working hours.

Work schedules, equipment use, and assigned duties will be limited to activities legally permitted for the student’s age. Applicants should contact their school district or appropriate state agency to confirm current work-permit requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

• Enrollment in an automotive technology, powersports, electrical, small-engine, diesel, or related technical program
